Origins & Intentions
From within about three minutes of starting the hike from the parking lot of Cypress Falls Park, I was transported to another realm. This place was magical, spirited, and mostly silent. The deep green hues of the forest against the dark earthen floor beckoned me to explore. The energy fully enveloped my being in a warm, loving, grounding way, both womb-like and expansive, creating a safe environment to connect, move, and reflect.
By pausing and noticing the sensory details, water reflections, sunlight shadows, textures of the forest, I captured a collection of photographs that became source material for movement and performance.
Artist Statement
Green Earth is an interdisciplinary work of photography, movement, film, and layered imagery. It is an offering born from immersion, an exploration of how environment shapes inner terrain. Through embodied attention, sensory awareness, and creative layering, I seek to translate the subtle language of place into a shared field of experience.
This work invites viewers not only to see the forest, but to feel themselves within it.

The Process
Immersed in the beauty and serenity of Cypress Falls, I balanced the physicality of hiking with pauses for reflection and connection, fully attending to what I was sensing in each moment. This allowed me to engage deeply with photography, capturing images that later formed the foundation of a visual collection. Inspired by the gratitude and contentment that this magical environment evoked, I felt compelled to translate the experience into movement, embodying the essence of the rainforest and the spirit of Cypress Falls itself. In the weeks that followed, I traveled to Tremblay Conservation Area, spending time on the beach improvising movement and filming myself as I engaged with the natural environment. Through this iterative process of reflection, improvisation, and documentation, I generated a rich body of source material that informed the development of my layered, sensory work.
